Oil with palette knife on wrapped canvas

This is a painting in my What Remains Series that was inspired by a sign on an old building in Salida, Colorado. This town has a lot of old brick buildings that still have painted signs on the old brick.

I asked why there were so many brick buildings in Salida when a lot of old Colorado towns are in Victorian style and built from wood. I was told that the town had burned in the 1800's or early 1900's and had been rebuilt in brick.

It often takes all of my computer and detecting skills to play with the images and figure out what they say as some are so faded and many have been painted over many times. I do take liberties with the design and the colors.
